The key decision
Your actual account, equipment and timing matter more than the city named in a rebate headline.
Read the electricity bill first
Identify the delivery utility and any community choice energy provider. A geographic label alone does not prove enrollment or eligibility. Use the exact program administrator for your account and proposed work.
Check timing before installation
Some programs require an application or reservation before work starts. SVCE’s current home-rebate page directs applicants to apply before installation and describes the documents needed after completion. Read the current agreement for the selected program, including any exception process.
Keep federal and local benefits separate
A local rebate does not revive an expired federal credit. Recent IRS guidance changed several deadlines, so old combined-savings examples can be misleading. Keep each program as a separate line with its status, conditions and source.
Put it into practice
Choose your starting point
| Administrator | Starting point | Verify |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery utility | Bill and utility program page | Service account and equipment eligibility |
| Community energy provider | Bill and provider’s current offers | Enrollment and geographic coverage |
| City program | Official city or administrator page | Funding and reservation requirements |
| Federal tax authority | Current IRS guidance | Qualifying event and deadline |
| Program combination | Each agreement | Whether benefits can be combined |
