YKCA Inc handles new construction, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), home additions and remodeling across the greater Bay Area. Our services cover kitchens, bathrooms, whole-home renovations and commercial tenant improvements, including restaurant and retail buildouts.

Each project starts with a defined scope: how the space will be used, what needs to change and how the work will be sequenced. We coordinate structural work, utilities, electrical systems and finishes, with restoration and audio/video systems included where the project calls for them.

Frequently Asked Questions

YKCA accepts projects in 194 communities across the Bay Area and nearby Northern California: San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Cruz, San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. This includes San Carlos, San Jose, Palo Alto, San Mateo, Daly City, Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz. Share your project address so we can confirm the scope and scheduling for your location.

Many accessory dwelling unit (ADU) projects take roughly 12 to 18 months from initial planning to completion; complex projects can take 24 months or longer. Construction itself often takes 6 to 12 months. These are general planning ranges. Design, permit review, site conditions and utility connections all affect the schedule for your property.

Allow several months for a substantial kitchen, bathroom or whole-home remodel, with additional time for design, permits and material orders before construction. A limited cosmetic update has a shorter scope than a remodel involving structural changes or several rooms. We review the layout, selected finishes, deliveries and whether the property will remain occupied before setting a project schedule.

Drying after a typical water loss may take about 3 to 5 days, but drying is only one stage of restoration. Repairs and reconstruction after extensive water or fire damage can take weeks or months. The amount of damage, moisture readings, material availability and required inspections determine the sequence. A project schedule follows the assessment; drying time alone is not a completion date.

Yes. We can plan ADU construction, remodeling, restoration, electrical work and audio/video systems as related parts of a project. For schools, universities and performance venues, AV planning can include sound, displays, stage lighting and controls. Responsibilities, specialist involvement and the order of work are defined for the agreed scope.

Permit planning and inspection coordination are included in project planning where required. We review the proposed work with the design team and local building department, identify the necessary submissions and clarify who is responsible for each step. Review times and inspection availability vary by location and project.

We use RSMeans construction cost data and the City Cost Index to benchmark estimates against local market averages. Each estimate accounts for the project scope, site conditions and selected materials, keeping our pricing in line with the local market. We review the scope and estimate with you before work begins. On-site visits are free; diagnostics and inspections are quoted separately.

Share the property address, a description of what you want to build or change, and any available photos, drawings or reports. A budget range and preferred timing help us discuss practical options. For restoration, include what happened and which areas are affected; for an AV project, describe the venue and how the system will be used.
