The key decision

A good checklist assigns decisions and records; it is more useful than a long list of boxes with no owner.

Use the checklist at the right moment

Before work begins, focus on access, selections, approvals and who makes decisions. During work, focus on changes and inspection dependencies. At handover, focus on operation, open items and the records that explain what was installed.

Assign a person and a date

“Choose tile” is incomplete without who selects it and when the choice is needed. The same applies to access arrangements, appliance delivery and permit responses. A small shared decision list often prevents more confusion than a long daily status message.

Keep damage-response tools within reach

For a leak or water event, use the separate restoration checklist collection. Those records address affected areas, drying and material decisions. An ordinary remodel checklist should not substitute for an active damage-response plan.
