Sending a trade resume to YKCA: what makes an introduction useful
A practical guide to the resume-only Careers page, from relevant experience to portfolio privacy.
THE KEY POINT
Send a clear account of your work and availability; the Careers page does not advertise a specific opening.
Know what the Careers page offers
The YKCA Careers page accepts resumes for future consideration. It does not list an active vacancy, guaranteed interview, pay range or start date. Read it as an invitation to introduce your experience, rather than as an application to a position with published terms.
The email link opens your mail application. Attach your resume yourself and review the recipient, subject and attachments before sending. Checking the on-page preparation boxes does not upload a file or submit an application. If you do not use a configured mail app, use the email address displayed on the page in your usual email service.
Explain the work you have actually done
Name your trade and describe recent responsibilities in plain language. For example, explain whether you installed equipment, assisted a lead, coordinated material deliveries or maintained records. Distinguish tasks you performed independently from work completed under supervision. Specific responsibilities are more useful than a long list of general personal qualities.
If you are early in your career, include relevant training and transferable work experience without presenting classroom practice as completed customer projects. The page welcomes an introduction; it does not establish an apprenticeship program or a particular training arrangement.
Make qualifications and examples easy to evaluate
List relevant licenses, certificates or courses accurately, including the issuing organization and status where appropriate. Do not imply that a course attendance record is the same as a professional credential. You can explain an unfinished course as in progress.
A small portfolio can help when you have permission to share it. Explain your role in each example and remove client names, access details, addresses and other private information. A photograph of a finished project does not tell the reader which part you personally performed, so add a short factual description.
Send one organized introduction
Use a subject such as “Resume: your name, your trade.” Include your general location, the type of work you are interested in, availability and a reliable contact method. A readable PDF resume is a reasonable default; do not attach identity documents, banking details or unrelated personal records to an initial introduction.
Open the attachment before sending and check that your phone and email are correct. Keep a copy of what you sent. If your availability or qualifications later change, a concise updated introduction is more useful than repeated identical messages. Submitting a resume does not create an employment offer or a response deadline.

Your checklist
A useful question
Does checking the Careers checklist submit my resume?
No. The checklist only helps you prepare. Use the email link, attach your resume in your email app and send it yourself. The page currently accepts resumes for future consideration.
